Collection Manager (Fleet & Automotive Finance)
Bangkok, Thailand
Risk & Operations
Full-Time
As the Collection Manager, your mission is to safeguard the company’s cash flow and minimize credit risk. You will be responsible for building, training, and leading a high-performance collection team focused on the Thai taxi and ride-hailing driver segment.
You aren't just managing "debt"—you are managing relationships and assets. We need a leader who can deep-dive into data to find out why defaults are happening and implement strategic interventions before they become losses. We aren't looking for a "bill collector." We are looking for a Strategic Problem Solver. If a specific neighborhood or car model is seeing a spike in defaults, you should be the first person to identify it, explain it, and tell the Sales team to pivot.
Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Strategy
-
Department Setup: Design and implement the end-to-end collection workflow, including "Dunning" (early-stage reminders), field collections, and repossession protocols.
-
Performance Culture: Set clear KPIs for the team (Collection Rate, Roll Rate, and Recovery Rate) and provide the coaching necessary to hit those targets.
-
Vendor Management: Manage external agencies for field collection or legal proceedings, ensuring they represent our brand professionally and ethically.
2. Tactical Collection & Default Reduction
-
NPL Management: Take direct accountability for bringing down the Non-Performing Loan (NPL) ratio and maintaining a healthy portfolio.
-
High-Level Negotiation: Step in to handle complex or high-value default cases, utilizing "charming" yet firm negotiation skills to secure payments or asset returns.
-
Asset Recovery: Oversee the repossession process for non-compliant drivers, ensuring vehicles are recovered safely and efficiently.
3. Data Analytics & Root Cause Identification
-
Deep-Dive Analysis: Move beyond the "what" and find the "why." Analyze driver demographics, payment patterns, and external factors (e.g., fuel price hikes) to predict defaults.
-
Feedback Loop: Propose solutions to the Sales and Marketing teams to refine "Credit Scoring" and lead-quality targeting based on collection data.
-
Reporting: Provide the Director and Board with transparent, real-time reports on the health of the collection bucket and aging receivables.
4. Compliance & Ethics
-
Legal Stewardship: Ensure all collection activities strictly adhere to the Thai Debt Collection Act (B.E. 2558) and other relevant consumer protection laws.
-
Process Improvement: Continuously audit internal processes to prevent harassment or unethical behavior while maintaining high recovery efficiency.
Qualifications
-
Experience: 5-7+ years in Debt Collection or Credit Risk Management, specifically within Automotive Finance, Hire Purchase, or Micro-finance.
-
Track Record: A proven history of significantly reducing default rates and improving collection efficiency in high-volume retail segments.
-
Analytical Skills: Advanced ability to use Excel, SQL, or BI tools to identify trends and perform "root cause" investigations.
-
Resilience & Ethics: A thick skin and the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. You must be firm but fair.
-
Language: Native Thai speaker with a strong command of professional English for reporting and strategy sessions.
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Accounting, or a related field.
